Mazak had previously worked with multiple suppliers but struggled to find a manufacturer that could meet both their delivery deadlines and strict tolerance requirements. To find a reliable CNC machining partner, they contacted Rapid Model to request a quote for customized robotic parts.

We provided competitive factory-direct pricing while fully adhering to the detailed CAD specifications and tolerance demands. After thorough technical review and prototyping, Mazak entrusted us with an order of 50 actuator housings and joint connectors made from stainless steel and titanium alloys.

What sets Rapid Model apart? Our deep experience as a direct factory with advanced 5-axis CNC capabilities allows us to tightly control quality and reduce unnecessary markups common in trading intermediaries.

The biggest challenge was machining thin-walled sections and complex internal cavities while maintaining dimensional integrity and surface finish required for smooth robotic articulation.

To overcome this, Rapid Model implemented multi-axis simultaneous milling combined with custom fixtures to minimize vibration and distortion. Critical dimensions were held within ±0.01 mm tolerance, with 100% inspection of threaded bores and sealing surfaces.

Each part underwent passivation and electro-polishing to boost corrosion resistance and achieve a mirror-like finish essential for cleanroom robotics applications.

From order confirmation to final delivery, Rapid Model completed all machining and finishing within 5 working days. We collaborated closely with Mazak engineers to optimize machining strategies, reduce tool wear, and streamline lead times.
This successful project enabled Mazak to advance their prototype testing on schedule. We continue to support their evolving production needs for high-performance robotic assemblies.
